To have the Crown and Cushion public house re-opened as soon as possible.
Be open, collaborative, and constructive with the owners of the Crown and Cushion (C&C) always.
Offer community support and encourage ongoing custom for both the Crown & Cushion and The Chequers
Ongoing engagement with the Great Gransden and Little Gransden communities to gather opinion and support for the best course of action to re-open the C&C.
Work closely with the appropriate authorities such as the County, District and Parish Councils regarding licensing, planning and conservation laws – and ensure the C&C remains an Asset of Community Value (ACV).
Work closely with organisations such as CAMRA and The Plunkett Foundation for guidance and legal advice.
Communicate transparently and constructively across the community and with all parties
Not to allow the community initiative to degenerate into any form of victimisation or witch hunt.
Not to try and to do the job of a relevant authority for them.
The C&C is not open for business. Since the beginning of 2022 (if not before) there have been many attempts to communicate with the current landlord to understand why the pub is not open and how the community could help to get the pub re-opened.
Following local communication through ‘Touchbase’ emails an open meeting was held on 28-Mar22. From this meeting several people volunteered to be on a committee to co-ordinate and focus efforts on opening the C&C.
May22: The committee is continuing to try and obtain a response from the landlord and is starting to engage with the council departments and other organisations.
